Telamon Completes DAS Upgrade At Lucas Oil Stadium And Indiana Convention Center

May 12, 2015
- Carmel IN

Over 245,000 fans attended this year’s NCAA® Final Four® festivities in Indianapolis, Indiana. In preparation for the games, Telamon was responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of a distributed antenna system (DAS) upgrade at Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center. In addition to this upgrade, Telamon provided a temporary extension to the DAS system at Lucas Oil Stadium to cover the additional floor seating needed for the games.

“There is one characteristic that sets this project apart,” said Travis Gilligan, Telamon Project Manager. “This installation utilizes Sprint’s 2.5GHz spectrum designed for capacity and faster speeds, enabling fans to more easily capture and share their favorite moments in the venues.”

The DAS that Telamon upgraded at Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center, originally deployed in 2012, was supplied by Corning Incorporated, a leader in optical solutions. Upgrades to the DAS included additional coverage for carriers such as Verizon and Sprint.

“Telamon was excited to work with Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center again to ensure the City of Indianapolis was ready for such an iconic event from a wireless perspective,” said Joe Rizzo, Vice President of Wireless for Telamon’s Telecom Solutions division. “In 2012, Telamon designed and installed the first 4G LTE mobile phone network at Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center.”

Fans were treated to a fast, uninterrupted wireless connection during the games making the amount of data used a record for a Final Four®.
