Be Heard Asia Exhibit – Albert Chen

CARMEL, INDIANA – August 20, 2019 – Telamon Corporation Founder & Executive Chairman of the Board – Albert Chen was featured among ten other individuals in an exhibit at the Indiana Historical Society. The Indiana Historical Society has been actively collecting Indiana history since 1830.

The exhibit theme; Be Heard: Asian Experiences in Indiana is the Indiana Historical Society’s third installment of their Be Heard exhibit series. It offered a glimpse of over 100 years of Asian heritage and history in Indiana. Indiana Historical Society’s Asian History collecting Initiative that began in 2016 and gathered life stories from more than 20 individuals from around the State of Indiana. The exhibit represents cultures from South Asia, the plateau of Tibet into China inland and as far east as the Asian countries in and around the Pacific Ocean.

Their Hoosier experience as native-born U.S. citizens or as foreign nationals have shaped the diverse cultural identity of Indiana’s Asian population. The exhibit celebrated their culture and contributions in their own words throughout the exhibit. This collecting initiative also collected paper based items for their permanent collection; organizational papers, books and photos, etc. Additionally they procured loaned items that were on display during this exhibit.

Cultural and regional history come alive at audio stations with interview excerpts at designated listening station in the exhibit that covered almost 90 years of life experiences, both in and out of the Hoosier State. This exhibit ran from April 27 – August 3.
