Advanced Engineering for an Optical OEM

Challenge

Telamon was tasked to upgrade one of the largest private long-haul optical networks in the country. Though the entire project was complex by nature, the biggest challenge was replacing the legacy infrastructure while keeping half of the network operational. Here’s how we did it:

  • Deployment of the latest optical technologies to enhance the network’s performance, capacity, and reliability. Key components and technologies include: EDRA-35 (RAMAN), EDFA-35C amplifiers, 20SMR-FS (ROADM), 100G Transponders, and WSON technology.
  • A comprehensive planning phase which covered everything from site assessment to resource allocation.
  • Four months of execution, which resulted in 61 upgraded sites.

Despite the logistical and technical challenges, the project was completed on time and within scope, maintaining the necessary uptime for half of the network traffic throughout.

Results

This project demonstrated our team’s expertise in managing complex network upgrades and solidified our reputation as a leader in the deployment of next-generation optical technologies.
